For those with a passion for the outdoors, Mount Bain Nature Reserve and surrounds are a natural playground. Discover the beauty of the area with a trail run, hike or nature walk – over 1,300 species of fynbos and an abundance of birds, wildlife, rivers, and waterfalls can be found here, making the cabin the ultimate base for outdoorsy travellers.

Swim in the Sun at the River

Bring along a floaty to enjoy on an exclusive section of the Witte River during the summer months. Only for guests. Further details provided after booking.

Mountain Biking in Slanghoek Cellar

Discover the incredible scenery of the Breede River Valley along the Slanghoek MTB trails. There are five routes to choose from, covering 8.5km to 20km, each beginning at Slanghoek Cellar. Routes tailor for all ages, but kids under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration for the route is required and can be done at the cellar during office hours or via Snapscan.

When: Open daily. Registration can be done at the cellar during office hours: Mon – Fri. 08:00 – 17:00 and 10:00 – 13:00 on Saturdays or via Snapscan.

Pizza and Beer at The Calabash Bush Pub

The Calabash Bush Pub can be found at the entrance to the reserve (approx. 800m away) and is open six days a week (closed on Mondays). They offer a wide selection of food and drinks, a bar area, firewood and both indoor and outdoor seating.

Gin Tasting at Monk’s Gin

We’re lucky enough to have Monks Gin Distillery right on our doorstep. Just a short drive or cycle away from Stonewood Mountain Cabin, Monks offer buchu, hemp or blueberry infused gin tastings from their mountain-facing tasting room, ideal come storm or shine.
Whats better than this? We’ve partnered with the Team at Monk’s Gin and our guests get every second tasting for free! Be sure to have your booking confirmation available to show the Monk’s Gin staff to be eligible to redeem your free tastings.

Wine and Lunch at Bergsig

Enjoy a decadent lunch and local wines surrounded by unparalelled mountain and vineyard views at Bergsig Estate. The Bergsig Bistro offers traditional lunches like Bobotie, Oxtail and Waterblommetjie Bredie, crafted with the local flavours and ingredients of the surrounding Breede River Valley.

Coffee at Rietdakkie Padstal & Farmstall

Great coffee, fresh produce and freshly baked goods are the order of the day at Rietdakkie Farmstall and Kitchen. Start your day with home brewed coffee and their famous fresh baked roosterkoek from the farm-style kitchen and let the kids loose in an enclosed outdoor play area. Perfect for a pitstop to stock up on padkos!

Walk In Gardens and Lunch at Bosjes

The tranquil landscaped gardens at Bosjes, a working family-run farm surrounded by orchards, vineyards and fynbos, is the ideal weekend activity. Discover a plethora of succulents, Renosterveld, indigenous forest, and water plants, or enjoy the elevated Boombrug canopy walk provides a vertical labyrinth to discover. Finish off with lunch at Bosjes Kombuis with its exquisite seasonal menu and play areas for kids.

When: Bosjes Kombuis is open Wednesday to Sunday, 11:30 – 15:30. The Spens, Chapel and Gardens are open Wednesday to Sunday, 08:30 to 16:00

Walk Through Flowers and Pick Your Own at Adene’s Farm Flowers

Stroll through five hectares of 50,000 flowering Dahlias, thousands of Hydrangeas and anemones at this working flower farm in the Wolseley. Bring a hat, flat closed shoes and a bucket to take your flowers home with you. Dog-friendly on a leash.

Animal Petting at Fynbos Guest Farm & Animal Sanctuary

Take a stroll through the animal sanctuary and pet some of the 150 animals including llamas, alpaca, zebra, springbok, to goats, horses and more. Feel free to take a walk on their trails or through the labyrinth in the forest. There is also a café and farmstall if you’re feeling peckish.
